A Unified Approach for Lexington County.

Bridging the gap between home and school in all five school districts to ensure every child in Lexington County arrives ready to learn.

From Chapin to Swansea

Lexington County is unique. With five distinct school districts serving over 55,000 students, ensuring every child starts school ready to learn requires a massive, coordinated effort. Lexington County First Steps is proud to be the connecting link. By funding the Parents as Teachers program in every district and partnering with schools for Countdown to Kindergarten, we ensure that families in every corner of the county—from Chapin to Swansea—have access to high-quality early childhood support.

Lexington County School Districts

Central Lexington (Lexington, Gilbert, Pelion)

Lexington County School District One

We fund the district’s Family Center, which employs certified Parent Educators to serve families through the Parents as Teachers model. This district is also a key partner in our Countdown to Kindergarten summer program.

Cayce, West Columbia, Springdale

Lexington County School District Two

Through our funding, Lexington Two’s Early Childhood Center provides home visitation services to families with young children. Our collaboration ensures that rising kindergartners in Cayce and West Columbia enter the classroom with confidence.

Batesburg-Leesville

Lexington County School District Three

We work hand-in-hand with the Lifelong Learning Center to deliver the Parents as Teachers program. Despite being a smaller district, their engagement in our Countdown to Kindergarten program ensures rural families receive the same high-quality transitions as urban ones.

Swansea and Gaston

Lexington County School District Four

Focused on the Early Childhood Center in Swansea, our partnership provides critical resources to rural families. Our funding supports parent education and home visits, bringing developmental screenings and support directly to families who need it most.

Irmo, Chapin, Dutch Fork

Lexington-Richland School District Five

Serving the northern communities of Chapin and Irmo, our partnership supports a robust Parenting and Family Support network. We collaborate closely to align our home visitation curriculum with the district’s high standards for school readiness.
